MBC will air the Ghosn documentary and series across the Middle East and are also handling international sales.
MBC Studios, a subsidiary of MBC Group, is set to launch an English-language documentary and mini-series on former CEO of automakers Nissan Carlos Ghosn, according to Variety.
While shooting for the three-part documentary started in September in Beirut led by British director Nick Green, French-Swedish film director Charlotte Brandstrom will direct the Ghosn series, which will comprise six one-hour episodes to be shot in 2021.
Ghosn, who was awaiting trial in Japan on financial misconduct charges from 2018, jumped bail and fled to Beirut via private jet in January. The former auto mogul and his wife, Carole, will feature in the productions which will tell Ghosn’s story, from rising to become the most influential people in the automobile industry to ending up as Japan’s most wanted fugitive to his life today in Lebanon.
MBC will air the Ghosn documentary and series across the Middle East and are also handling international sales.
In an interview with Variety, MBC CEO Marc Antoine d’Halluin said: “It’s a complex, multi-layered story. At its core, there is the raison d’état (state interests) between France and Japan, with the future of a possible merger of Renault and Nissan at stake.”
