The musical variety programme, hosted by Egyptian actor Hassan El Raddad, makes its debut on MBC1 and MBC Iraq.
MBC Group has announced the launch of El Leila Doub, an Arabic-language adaptation of the Emmy-nominated US sensation, That’s My Jam.
Hosted by Egyptian actor Hassan El Raddad, El Leila Doub promises to showcase some of the Arab world’s most prominent celebrities as they engage in a series of music and dance challenges, competing in a battle of talents.
Viewers can catch El Leila Doub airing on MBC1 and MBC Iraq every Wednesday at 10 PM KSA and 10 PM Iraq time, respectively.
Inspired by the original format, That’s My Jam, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, where global stars like Ariana Grande and Blake Shelton face off in a medley of friendly competitions, El Leila Doub offers its own brand of moments and performances.
In each episode, celebrity guests team up to tackle a range of challenges, including Launch the Mic, Air Guitar, Don’t Drop the Beat, Perfect Mash-Up, Wheel of Impossible Karaoke, Slay It, Don’t Spray It, and more, all in the name of winning cash prizes for their selected charities.
Originally launched in 2021, That’s My Jam is currently in its third season in the United States, with international adaptations having been successful in countries like the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Mongolia, the Netherlands, and Germany, distributed globally by NBCUniversal Formats.
In El Leila Doub, Arab stars will go head-to-head in musical showdowns, with the victorious team securing the highest points.
Each episode commences with two teams, each composed of two celebrities, striving to conquer four challenges, the nature of which varies from episode to episode. From testing their musical prowess in Karaoke Mesh Okay to flexing their song knowledge in Ghanni Aw Tughtasal, the celebrities are in for a whirlwind of fun and competition.
Adding to the excitement, a surprise guest joins El Raddad in judging the competition every episode.
In El Leila Doub, stars from the Arab world take on each other in musical challenges, with the winning team scoring the highest number of points.
Marking El Raddad’s first presenting role, the actor said: “Hosting is completely different from acting, which I have enjoyed and found to match my personality. It is a unique art that sets it apart from other disciplines, with its unique creativity and challenges. I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.”
He continued: “Several versions of That’s My Jam have been presented around the world so far and have proven successful, which was part of the reason I decided to take on this experience. The fact that it has been with the professional team of MBC Group has made the experience even more distinctive and enjoyable, and I feel that I am in safe hands.”
Recalling his work on The Masked Singer – Inta Min?, El Raddad said that his role as a judge on that show has prepared him for his hosting gig. “El Leila Doub requires quick wit and a sense of humour, and it is like theatre work. The episodes feature a competition among four stars from across the Arab world, with them taking part in musical competitions and artistic knowledge with one winner crowned every episode. The collaboration between the guests has been fun and fantastic to watch.”
