MBC has ordered a 10-episode first season of the Endemol celebrity talent TV show Your Face Sounds familiar. The show will be produced by Endemol Middle East and launch in primetime on MBC4 and MBC Egypt.
“Your Face Sounds Familiar is a proven worldwide hit and we’re extremely pleased to be bringing the show to the Middle East for the very first time. Celebrity talent formats are hugely popular in the region and we expect MBC’s audiences will love watching well-known faces delivering iconic musical performances each week,” said Lara Haddad, Managing Director, Endemol Middle East.
The TV show, which originated in Spain in 2011, has now sold to more than 30 territories including the US, UK, China, Latin America, Asia and the CIS.
Endemol Middle East hopes the local version of Your Face Sounds Familiar will mirror the recent success of Star Academy, which aired across the Arab world on CBC Egypt and LBCI earlier in 2014. According to Endemol, Star Academy became the top rated TV show in Egypt with an average audience share of 36% during its four-month run.
