CBS Studios International, and MBC Group have announced the launch of a regional format of entertainment newsmagazine Entertainment Tonight (ET). The new series will be called Et Bil Arabi and will be produced in Arabic by Charisma Group out of its studios in Abu Dhabi-UAE. The show will premiere on the Groups entertainment channel, MBC4, as of Sunday January 4th 2015.
Et Bil Arabi will run on MBC4, from Sunday to Thursday, with a 90-minute compile on Saturdays. The show – presented by Badr Al-Zaydan, Mariam Said and Nardine Faraj – will reach nearly 300 million viewers across 21 countries in the MENA region and will cover the local news in the Arab entertainment industry, with a stream of news stories on celebrities, film, television, music, fashion, award shows and special events in a trend-setting, groundbreaking format.
ET entered its 34th season in the US on September 9, 2014. In June of 2014, ET won its first Emmy Award for the new category of Outstanding Entertainment News Programme.
ET has been the foremost authority on entertainment news for more than three decades, said Paul Gilbert, Senior Vice President, International Formats, CBS Studios International, The US producers are thrilled to collaborate with MBC to bring the best show possible to the pan-Arab region.
Ali Jaber, MBCs Group TV Director said: MBC Group has a proven track record of interruptive output deals with major Hollywood studios, including CBS. Today, we are complementing our partnership, from a different perspective, by localizing a very well-known show that is tailored to our audience.
Jaber further commented: We are thrilled about this new format, as we are known to hold the largest global formats in the MENA region and this particular one, ET, fits perfectly within the line-up of our bold entertainment channel MBC4.
On his part, Aiman Al Ziyoud, CEO, Charisma Group said: We are very excited to give life to the Arabic version of Entertainment Tonight. The local version called Et Bil Arabi speaks for itself. Its the same ET however in Arabic language and with relevant Arabic content. Its about time we treat entertainment news with respect and authority.
Et Bil Arabi will be the second locally produced format, joining ET Canada, which has just launched its 10th season.
