Bouran is expected to take up his new role from March 8 and help support IMI Holding’s expansion plans.
Nart Bouran, well known for heading Sky News Arabia in Abu Dhabi before he went on to take up the role of Senior Vice President for News, Programming and Transformation at Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN) in the US, will now return to Abu Dhabi as Chief Executive Officer of International Media Investment (IMI) Holding, a privately-owned Abu Dhabi-based investment company that is focussed on digital-first news content.
Bouran served as the launch director of Sky News Arabia in Abu Dhabi and then became chief executive and head of news from 2011 to 2018, where he helped establish the channel as a credible source of news in the MENA region and transform and grow its broadcast and digital platforms.
Other roles held by Bouran included Director of Television for the Reuters News Agency, Director General of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation, and Director of News Centre for Abu Dhabi TV.
In November 2018, MBN implemented an extensive transformation of Alhurra Television, building new studios outside of Washington, DC and Dubai, increasing the amount of news to 12 hours a day and launching new programming of relevance to regional audiences.
Commenting on his new role, Bouran said: “I am excited to return to the UAE to support IMI Holding build on its successes and oversee its expansion plans. I am confident that there is much more than we can achieve together as a group with the support of colleagues from across the various investments under IMI’s umbrella through closer collaboration, integration and hard work.”
MBN President Alberto M. Fernandez remarked: “Bouran played a key role in MBN’s recent transformation and helped set up the organisation for continued growth and we thank him for his contribution and leadership.”
