Space Centre announces logo competition ahead of first International Astronautical Congress in Dubai.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) is inviting talented creators from all over the world to help craft a unique logo for the 2020 edition of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which will be held for the first time ever in the Arab world, specifically in Dubai next year. The winning participant will not just be integral to creating the brand identity that will mark this noteworthy event, but he or she will also receive a cash prize and a free entry to the event itself.
Emphasising its role to engage audiences from different walks of life in the space industry and help unleash creativity, MBRSC designed this competition to target professional designers with a knack for producing memorable logos, successful design agencies, students, and creative individuals. ?This IAC 2020 Logo Competition is designed to bring the general public into the fold of exciting new developments at the Centre and, in turn, developments within the UAE?s burgeoning space sector. We are eager to tap into the nation?s growing reservoir of homebred talent and incorporate the creative community?s ideas into the centre?s proceedings. And, of course, we?re looking to encourage creative thinking at every level,? commented Salem Al Marri, Assistant Director General for Scientific and Technical Affairs, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, and the head of the organising committee of IAC 2020.
The IAC is recognised as the largest specialised conference in the space sector worldwide. It is an annual collaborative effort between the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), the International Academy of Astronautics and the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), with the host city switching between member states each year. In 2017, The MBRSC successfully bid to host the 71st installment of the congress in Dubai in 2020, and will transform the city into a meeting ground for influential figures and decision makers in the international space industry.
The congress will coincide with a significant year for the UAE?s space sector as well: 2020 will also be the year in which we launch the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) ? Hope Probe into space. Al Marri added: ?Hosting this event in the UAE emphasises our standing in the global space industry with the ongoing success of the projects within the UAE National Space Programme running on schedule.?
The MBRSC is now accepting submissions to the competition, and will continue to do so until 7 March. Entries will be judged solely on the basis of their visual appeal, regardless of the skill level of participants.
