The production for Hajwala 2: The Mysterious Mission is set to begin mid December and will be co-funded by Empire International and Dhabi Films.
A sequel to Emirati film Hajwala: The Missing Engine, which grossed more than USD 1m USD at the regional box office, is being planned for a 2018 release, regional distributor Empire Internationals CEO Mario Haddad announced at a press conference at DIFF.
The production for Hajwala 2: The Mysterious Mission is set to begin mid December and will be co-funded by Empire International and Dhabi Films. Directed by Ibrahim Bin Mohamed, Hajwala 2: The Mysterious Mission will star Emirati actors Hussain Al Hosani and Ali Abdulla Al Marzooqi alongside an array of famous professional drifters such as Omar Al Hashmi, Kashoona and Saudi professional drifter Abdulla Al Youssif. The film will be upgraded with a story, which will force car racing and the drifting fanatics to partner for a new and mysterious mission.
The community of cars and drifting with their secrets inspired us to make good stories and local content for cinema. We are looking at supporting the entertaining content through developed movies that can attract all audiences Ibrahim Bin Mohamed said.
Empire International CEO Mario Jr Haddad underlined his companys excitement to be involved in the production of Hajwala 2.

Hajwala 2: The Mysterious Mission is targeting a release in Q2, 2018. The original is currently available on Netflix.
