'Farah' is the story of an Iranian woman, who had to run away from her country and is struggling to live in Istanbul, working as a cleaning lady in order to maintain the treatment of her son.
Mediaset Italy has secured the rights to the Turkish series Farah, an adaptation of the Argentinean show La chica que limpia (The Cleaning Lady), distributed by Calinos Entertainment.
Produced by O3 Medya, Farah continues to expand its international reach, having struck deals in various countries.
Goryana Vasileva, Europe Sales Manager at Calinos Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Mediaset Italia by bringing Farah to the Italian screens. Farah has been long awaited by the Italian fans of Demet Ozdemir and Engin Akyurek. It has already become an international phenomenon, especially on social media platforms around the world, due to the popularity of the cast and its captivating storyline.”
Starring Demet Ozdemir, Engin Akyurek, Firat Tanis, Senan Kara, Lale Basar, Oktay Cubuk, Mustafa Avkiran and Ali Surmeli, Farah tells the story of an Iranian woman who flees her homeland and navigates life in Istanbul. Working as a cleaning lady to support her son’s medical treatment, she becomes entangled with the mafia as the plot progresses.
Farah was one of the brightest students at one of Iran’s leading medical schools, until months before she had to flee. But she and her entire family ruthlessly pay the price for a man’s failure to reciprocate her love, and Farah flees to Turkey, unaware that she is pregnant with a boy. Seven years later, this bright future woman is forced to work as a cleaning lady in order to provide for herself and her son.
The series, written by Deniz Dargi, M. Cem Gorgec, and S. Cenk Bogatur, is a Turkish adaptation of the original Argentinian drama.
