With the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) in limbo and DISCOP having moved to Egypt, CABSAT has capitalised on the opportunity to bring together content buyers and sellers to the show with its Flix on 86 screenings at a specially designated screening room at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
A key showcase at CABSAT and a first for the show is the mena.tv Arabic Originals screening, which will take place on Tuesday, March 12 from 2pm to 4pm.
The screenings, hosted by the mena.tv Content Hub, will screen brand new 2019 content from Eagle Films, Cedars Art Productions, Rotana, Comedy Central (Viacom), Spacetoon, VuClip, and Union Media and Baby Clay.
Speaking about their partnership with CABSAT, Nick Grande, CEO of mena.tv Content Hub said: “We are helping to facilitate the whole content experience at CABSAT. We have more than 100 content buyers registered to participate in this content initiative, which is the first such line-up ever at CABSAT. The finale of the screenings will be an exclusive buyer preview of the Ramadan 2019 slates of Eagle Films and Cedars Art Productions. Accredited content buyers will have preferred access to the screenings. There is a lounge area and we will facilitate the buying and selling process.”
Heba Korayem, mena.tv Client Director went on to add that mena.tvs partners are making special edits and promos to specially screen them at CABSAT.
“Usually, our clients tend to do all their deals behind closed doors. This is the first time buyers will have an opportunity to come to a public screening area of new regional productions. The screening is opening up a new platform for producers to also sell their works. We have companies like Comedy Central who are not just part of a channel but also license their shows. Likewise, VuClip has produced original shows and is now looking to license them to other buyers.”
Flix on 86 will also see screenings from the Korean content community among others.
