The lineup includes shorts from Sudan, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Morocco, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Jordan.
MAD Shorts, the short films division of film distribution company MAD Solutions, will screen 15 films at the ongoing Middle East Now Film Festival. The festival runs from October 15 to 20 in Florence, Italy. In celebration of the long-standing collaboration between MAD Solutions and the festival, the films are being presented through three programs titled MAD Stories, where each program follows a unified theme.
The MAD shorts lineup for the Italian festival includes Arwa Salem’s Saudi short 1420, world premiere of Passant Ahmed’s Egyptian short Papa Told Me, Mohamed Fawi’s Sudanese short Buzz, Aziz Shennawy’s Tunisian short Forsaken, Yazid Eldaly’s Egyptian short Hookah, Ethar Baamer’s animated Saudi short In Between, Hussein Hijazi’s Lebanese short Legacy, Majdi El-Omari’s Palestinian short Mar Mama, Salma Murad’s Saudi short Matchstick, Walid Messnaoui’s Moroccan short No Key, Taqwa Ali Naser’s Bahraini short The Grocery List, Hayder Dawood’s Saudi short The Last Winter, Daniela Stephan’s Lebanese short The Sun Sets on Beirut, Firas Al-Taybeh’s Jordanian short The Woodland, and Mohammad Gotta’s Jordanian short Where Have You Been?
