Reed MIDEM said it will work with its event partners to “have in place rigorous guidelines and advanced safety measures throughout the Palais des Festivals”.
Reed MIDEM, the parent company and organiser of global television content conference and market MIPCOM, has confirmed that this October’s edition of the annual event will take place in Cannes, with a physical component and a digital programme, designed for those unable to travel.
The conference is slated for October 12-15, headquartered in Palais des Festivals, with MIPJunior taking place on October 10-11 at JW Marriott.
MIPCOM aims to help buyers and distributors make up for the lost time by showcasing the newest content including finished series, and shows in production or in development.
The screening rooms will operate with strict hygiene and physical distancing protocols in place. Furthermore, wearing of masks will be mandatory for all participants, service providers and event staff. Hand sanitisers will also be made available throughout the exhibition zone.
“The safety of our attendees and staff is our top priority,” REED MIDEM said in a statement. “To ensure we can gather safely in Cannes, Reed MIDEM and our event partners will have in place rigorous guidelines and advanced safety measures throughout the Palais des Festivals and all of our event venues.”
Along with the physical event, Reed MIDEM will host an “Online+” edition of MIPCOM. While its programme is still under development, the market is expected to incorporate the “global upfronts” and premiere screenings included in this year’s edition, while also facilitating networking and meetings for those unable to attend due to travel restrictions.
The MIPJunior digital library will go online two-weeks prior to the market event. Once onsite in Cannes, people can screen anywhere using their own laptop or signing in to a limited number of viewing terminals. Post-market, the library will stay online for nine months.
