Stuart Ford will produce alongside Karim for AGC, with sales arm AGC International handling worldwide rights for the project.
AGC Studios, led by Stuart Ford, has joined forces with Egyptian actor Mohamed Karim’s MK Global Entertainment to co-produce Judgment of the Dead, an English-language thriller deeply rooted in the lore of ancient Egypt.
Karim is known across the Middle East for his roles in popular Ramadan soaps and as a former host of the Arab language version of the singing talent format The Voice. His notable roles in Hollywood include appearances alongside Nicolas Cage in the 2019 action movie A Score to Settle and with Bruce Willis in A Day to Die.
The screenplay for Judgment of the Dead was penned by US writer Thomas M. Hewlett, based on an original idea by Mohamed Karim. The narrative revolves around Dr Sherif Hawass (played by Karim), a distinguished Egyptologist who unwittingly unleashes an ancient evil contained in one of his artefacts. To save the world and the woman he loves, Dr Hawass must confront this ancient evil.
The project is currently in its early stages, with no director or additional cast members announced beyond Mohamed Karim. Stuart Ford, with his extensive involvement in the Middle East, plans to present Judgment of the Dead at the third edition of the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, along with the market.
Mohamed Karim has earned acclaim, including Best Actor awards at the Monaco International Film Festival for his role in the English-language romantic comedy A Facebook Romance and at the Alexandria International Film Festival for the Egyptian romance Stolen Kisses. Recognised as one of GQ Middle East’s Men of the Year 2021, Karim is actively engaged in fostering connections between Hollywood and the film communities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The negotiation of the deal was overseen by Anant Tamirisa, Senior VP of Legal and Business Affairs at AGC, which will hold the worldwide rights for the film.
