“There Is No Evil” is reminiscent of Hannah Ardent, the contemporary philosopher’s concept of “the Banality of Evil”.
The 70th edition of Berlin International Film Festival will see Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof’s There is No Evil, co-produced by Kaveh Farnam, CEO of Dubai-based distributor Advanced Media, take part in the main competition. This year’s International Jury will be headed by the prominent British actor, Jeremy Irons.
The festival will take place between February 20 and March 1 in the German capital, with Irons and his jury judging the festival’s competition lineup.
Mohammad Rasoulof has maintained a stellar reputation at the Cannes Film Festival with four other films: Iron Island (2005), Goodbye (2011), Manuscripts Don’t Burn (2013) and A Man of Integrity (2017).
Other intriguing projects include Afghan-German film director Burhan Qurbani’s Berlin Alexanderplatz and Ilya Khrzhanovskiy and Jekaterina Oertel’s long-gestating project DAU. Natasha.
Further, six of the 18 films selected are directed or co-directed by women this year.
