The eighth edition of the 2018 ASBU BroadcastPro Summit and Awards will take place on 13 November 2018 at Habtoor Grand, Dubai Marina. MENA broadcast executives will come together to address issues ranging from exporting Arab content to ensuring a sustainable MENA broadcast industry in challenging economic conditions. More than 400 industry professionals from the media entertainment market have registered to attend the event.
The four panel discussions will be followed by a gala dinner and awards ceremony recognising excellence in production, VFX, OTT, satellite and broadcast services, systems integration and OTT initiatives, among other categories. More than 400 broadcast professionals have registered to attend the day-long summit. Speakers at the summit include CEOs and senior executives from organisations such as Image Nation, MBC, Fox Networks Group, Twitter and Facebook, among others.
In what is a tradition at the summit, the keynote panel discussion will address Arab content creation and how to make it appealing to international markets. Titled Creating an Export Market for Arabic Content, the panel will be moderated by Lina Matta, Channel Director, MBC 2, MBC 4, Max & MBC+ Variety, MBC Group. Panelists will include executives from MENA-based production houses, broadcasters and distributors.
The panel discussion will be followed by an exclusive presentation titled Entertainment and Media Outlook Middle East by Abhijat Sharma, Management Consultant, Media, Entertainment and Culture (MEC) at Strategy& (part of the PwC Network).
The topical issue of OTT and social media will then take centerstage in the mid-morning session and is sponsored by Irdeto, our Knowledge Partner. Representatives from Twitter, Facebook and WWE will share the stage with traditional broadcast stakeholders such as MBC Group and Irdeto. Tilted OTT & Social Media: Driving Video Entertainment the panel will be moderated by Christophe Firth, Principal at A.T. Kearney.
The much-anticipated tech panel, a staple of the afternoon session at the annual summit, will see experts debating the demands of the new broadcast ecosystem. Titled Addressing the Demands of a New Broadcast Ecosystem, the panel will be moderated by Paul Wallis, Managing Director of Deluxe Middle East. CTOs and technical executives representing regional broadcasters, satellite operators and integrators will address issues of migration, staff training, immersive technologies, OTT, IP and cloud, among other topics.
The CEO panel will conclude the summit. Titled The Digital Transition and Building a Robust Media Business, the CEO panel will be moderated by Karim Sarkis, Senior Executive Advisor at Strategy&. CEOs from Image Nation, MBC, Fox Networks Group and Starz Play will look at how the opening of the Saudi market changes the dynamics of the MENA TV industry. They will address issues of international competition, film and broadcast partnerships, the viability of video streaming services and the future of FTA and pay-TV, among other topics.
