The latest episode of ACC Talks on Instagram will feature a meeting between Moroccan film critic Abdelkarim Ouakrim and Morocco’s acclaimed film director Hesham Lasri. The episode will be streamed on July 9 at 10 pm UAE time.
Hesham Lasri is a Moroccan director, scriptwriter and film producer. His debut feature film The End (2011) has received many awards. Lasri’s trilogy They Are the Dogs (2013), The Sea Is Behind (2014) and Starve Your Dog (2015) took part in the Dubai International Film Festival for three consecutive editions, as well as received wide critical acclaim and gathered several awards and honours at multiple international film festivals. These awards include Best Director Award at the Khouribga African Film Festival in Morocco.
Abdelkarim Ouakrim is a Moroccan film critic and journalist. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Cinephilia Magazine and Editorial Assistant at Al Adabiya Magazine. Ouakrim has served as a jury member in several international and local film festivals, including Caminhos do Cinema Português, Portugal (2014), Critics’ Week at Cairo International Film Festival, Egypt (2017), and Sardinia Film Festival, Italy (2019).
