The programme is open to Arab filmmakers, regardless of their country of residency.
Mosaic Post-production Lab, an initiative of the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC), has started accepting applications for its first edition. This regional training programme is designed to assist Arab film editors and directors in the post-production phase of their first or second feature-length films. The initiative aims to help filmmakers enhance their creative potential and produce the best versions of their films with expert guidance.
The deadline for submissions is Saturday, September 14, 2024, by 11:59 pm (Jordan’s time/UTC+3).
Open to Arab filmmakers regardless of their country of residency, the programme targets editors working on their first or second feature-length films that are already in post-production. All genres are welcome, including narrative, documentary and experimental films.
Applicants must submit an application form via the RFC website, including a detailed synopsis of the film (max 500 words), a director’s statement outlining the film’s vision and objectives (max 500 words) and a 10-15 minute edited sample of the film. Additionally, at least two samples of the editor’s previous work, a detailed post-production schedule (max 500 words), and brief biographies of key team members (max 200 words each) are required. All materials must be in English or have English subtitles.
The programme consists of two phases. The first phase is an online consultancy running from November 4, 2024, to February 9, 2025, featuring comprehensive guidance from industry experts. This phase will focus on creative aspects of post-production, including storytelling through editing and best practices for workflow management.
The second phase is a five-day intensive lab in Jordan, scheduled from April 10 to April 16, 2025. It includes private screenings, Q&A sessions, group workshops and one-on-one meetings with experts covering colour grading, sound design and VFX. This phase aims to provide critical feedback and advanced training to help filmmakers refine their cuts.
By participating in the Mosaic Post-production Lab, filmmakers will gain valuable knowledge, skills and expertise to tell their stories more creatively and elevate their films to an international level, ensuring that Arab voices and stories reach global audiences.
