MTV India, an IndiaCast channel, will launch in the Middle East and North Africa this month.
IndiaCast has collaborated with Indian broadcaster TV 18 and US media company Viacom to bring the music channel to the large audience of Indian expatriates living in the region. This launch means that MTV India will now be broadcast to 31 countries globally.
IndiaCast has a team in Dubai that will manage the distribution and sales for MTV India. The company launched its original channel, COLOURS, in September 2010, which is currently available in almost 50 countries. MTV India will be IndiaCasts first addition, offering a mix of Hindi music and reality TV, targeting an audience of youth and family.
Speaking about the launch, Gaurav Gandhi, COO of IndiaCast said: The launch of MTV India in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, will give an opportunity to the South Asian and other audiences to connect with the Indian music and reality programming. MTV India is our second brand in the region and we intend to grow our presence here with more offerings from our extensive news and regional channel portfolio in the near future.
Adding to this, Aditya Swamy, head of business for MTV India said: MTV India has constantly engaged and entertained young India and now the opportunity to do so with young people in the other countries is very exciting. While we will leverage our cult franchises, we will also look at some region specific initiatives which will resonate with the local audience.
MTV India is available from August 2012, across the region on Pehla branded packs or SMATV, with the aim to launch on other platforms in the near future.
