The details of the upcoming 11th edition of the Muscat International Film Festival has been announced at the headquarters of the Omani Film Society in Muscat. The festival is scheduled to take place from March 3 to 7, under the theme ‘Renewed Oman’, according to a report by Times of Oman.
The festival will be the recognition and honour bestowed upon various international and local directors and movie stars throughout the five-day event, including Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
The festival is set to host multiple competitions spanning diverse themes, such as the International Feature Narrative Film Competition, International Feature Documentary Film Competition, Animation Film Competition, Omani Short Narrative Film Competition, and Omani Short Documentary Film Competition. A total of 23 prizes have been allocated across these competition categories.
Complementing the screenings and competitions, the festival will feature a series of accompanying events, including seminars and workshops. These sessions aim to familiarise participants with the processes involved in obtaining the necessary licenses for film production in the Sultanate, in coordination with relevant authorities. Additionally, the festival will offer courses related to various aspects of cinematic work.
A notable addition to the festival is the “Festival Market,” serving as a hub for institutions, production companies, and artistic platforms. This initiative aims to bring together enthusiasts and professionals in the cinematic industry, fostering local and international collaboration within the government and private cinematic production sectors. The Festival Market will provide a space for the exchange of experiences and promotional offers, showcasing cinematic production and artistic capabilities.
