My-HD has officially launched its full bouquet of channels in the MENA region. The launch follows a partnership agreement signed by My-HD and Arabsat in March. Ever since their tie-up, the two companies have been working to secure premium content for the region.
Among the new channels launched on the Arabsat platform are MTV Lebanon, Luxe.TV, Physique TV (which will also be available in Arabic) among others. Also a part of the package will be an EPG powdered by Selevision and Catchup TV.
Commenting on the launch Cliff Nelson, CEO of My-HD Media said: Our partnership with Arabsat is set to shape the future of HDTV in the MENA region. This launch falls in line with our strategy to provide premium content at affordable prices. We say it is luxury everyone can afford and stand by it.”
My-HD and Arabsat have brought international brand channels to the consumers to reinforce their value proposition. Their signing of an exclusive distribution agreement with GMA Network, the Philippines number 1 Terrestrial TV Network was the first of its kind. This agreement is very crucial in the development of the local economy considering the population of over 2.4 million Filipinos in the Middle East. My-HD through this agreement with Arabsat had an aim to build a diversified bouquet of family entertainment channels exclusively across the MENA region at one time, in order to contribute to such as one of the largest communities in the region.
Khalid Balkheyour, President and CEO of Arabsat, said, Through this partnership, My-HD Media’s content will be available to 170 million viewers in more than 80 countries, in the Arab world and Africa. Arabsats first HD channel was introduced in 2007 and we have since been looking to develop the idea further. Its high time MENA countries switched from SD to HD. It is a tall order and requires huge investment but it is also a move that needs to be made. My-HD is a promising idea which Arabsat stands by and supports.
