National Geographic Abu Dhabis I am Nat Geo Photographer brings one of National Geographic Channels global formats to the region in a new addition to the channels local content.
I am Nat Geo Photographer that premiered recently is shot entirely in the UAE with Nikon as the Presenting Sponsor. The finale will be on June 25. Eight amateur photographers from around the region compete against one another in a series of challenges, as they try to capture a photograph worthy of being featured in National Geographic Al Arabiya magazine.
The challenges take them to iconic locations across the UAE, and at the end of each episode a panel of judges will assess the contestants work to decide which will be eliminated.
Judging the competition are three seasoned photographers and photography experts: Laura El-Tantawy, National Geographic photographer; Jack Dabaghian, professional photojournalist, and Matthew Dols, Assistant Professor of New Media in the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises (CACE) at Zayed University (Dubai and Abu Dhabi campuses).
NGADs locally-created content has taken viewers across the GCC. Programmes include Ultimate Airport Dubai, a show following the goings-on in Dubai Airport Terminal 3; Megafactories: Almarai, focusing on the Saudi dairy giants end-to-end manufacturing process; Inside Mission Kosovo, a documentary about the UAE Union Defence Forces journey to Kosovo , and Megastructures episodes featuring iconic regional achievements such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Capital Gate, and Aldar HQ building.
