‘The Lone She’ is the latest film to celebrate Arab women’s achievements as part of National Geographic Abu Dhabi marathon series commemorating International Women’s Day.
National Geographic Abu Dhabi is set to premiere a film on the Arab explorer Dolores Al Shelleh, aged 28, who became the first Arab woman to climb the 8839-meter Mount Everest from the Northeast Ridge.
Premiering on March 8, The Lone Film is part of National Geographic Abu Dhabi’s celebration of ‘International Women’s Day’ which will feature a jam-packed marathon of shows and programs highlighting the achievements of women, both Arab and from around the world, who have made their mark on history.
The film showcases Al Shelleh’s journey, highlighting the unpredictable, volatile routes she embarked upon on her ascent to the top of the Summit, which she reached on May 23, 2019.
Dolores Al Shelleh aims to inspire the younger generations of Arab women to challenge themselves and follow their dreams. She made history by being the first Arab to summit Mount Manaslu in Himalayas-Nepal, the world’s eighth highest mountain at 8,156m above sea level.
