Nejib Kthiri’s British-Tunisian short film, Trinou, is set to screen at the Cinequest Film and Creativity Festival as well as the Rural Encounters on Environment and Film (REEF) Festival.
Scheduled from August 15 to 30, Cinequest will host Trinou in Silicon Valley, followed by REEF, taking place from August 30 to September 10 in Lebanon.
Building upon its acclaim, Trinou, garnered praise at the recently concluded Avanca International Film Festival in Portugal. The film’s lead actor, Max Pemberton, secured a Special Mention for Best Actor, marking a significant acknowledgement of his talent.
Trinouartfully narrates the tale of Omar, a young boy who transcends the confines of his frail body and sequestered life through journeys within dreams conjured from magazines bestowed by his mother. A pivotal turning point is reached when Omar’s stepfather advocates a transformation in the mother-son dynamic by urging her to cease gifting magazines to him, prompting both to embark on a transformative journey.
Having had its world premiere at CIFF, Trinou also clinched a nomination for Best Short Film at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Kosovo.
The film boasts an ensemble cast, led by Max Pemberton, renowned for his appearance as Dalton in the inaugural episode of Tim Burton’s Netflix series, Wednesday. The stellar lineup includes Mohamed Grayaa, Kaouther Dhaouedi, and Eleanor Crowe.

Nejib Kthiri, the creative genius behind Trinou, is a Tunisian filmmaker and musician, presently residing in London, UK. Having pursued studies in music and sound engineering at West London University in 2011, Kthiri further delved into the realm of cinematography.
