The premium plan members will receive both features on launch day for no additional charge, and no special equipment will be required.
Netflix has announced two new features for those subscribed to its premium plans. The new features include the addition of an increased number of download devices from four to six as well as the availability of spatial audio on the top 700 titles. These features will be available at no extra cost for members who are already on the premium plan, as well as those who choose to upgrade, or sign up for the first time.
Rishu Arora, Director of Product Management at Netflix, said: “Netflix’s Premium plan already offers the highest quality viewing experience, with 4K HDR video resolution without ads, the ability to watch and download series and films on four supported devices at a time, and more. Now, with Netflix spatial audio, the members with Premium will enjoy the highest quality sound experience available, whether they are watching at home on TV or a computer, or on-the-go with a phone or a tablet. ”
Netflix spatial audio brings an immersive, cinematic sound experience on any device with no additional equipment required — and now it’s available on Netflix’s top-watched titles, including Stranger Things, The Watcher, Wednesday, and Knives Out: Glass Onion among others.
To see the full list of titles with spatial audio, users may type “spatial audio” into the search bar on Netflix.
Netflix will also be adding spatial audio to popular new titles as they’re released, including You, Your Place or Mine, Luther: The Fallen Sun, and Tour de France.
Arora added: “This truly magical sound experience is a game changer for the Premium plan viewing experience, and we’re excited to add this capability to other features we already support like 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and Netflix Calibrated Mode.”
“With people more connected than ever through multiple devices, we’ve learned through research that members would like the option to download Netflix series and films to watch offline on more devices, particularly as they travel and switch between devices. That’s why we’re increasing the number of download devices from four to six for premium members, so you can watch Netflix on your devices — anytime, anywhere,” concluded Arora.
