The new broadcast licenses obtained by the streaming services are valid for 10 years.
Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have obtained licenses in Turkey by complying with new online broadcasting rules, the country’s broadcasting authority said on Thursday.
In a tweet, Ebubekir Sahin, the head of Turkey’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK), said: “International platforms Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, which broadcast on-demand content over the Internet, have fulfilled their obligations just like local streaming services and received a license from RTÜK. Best wishes.”
The broadcast licenses are valid for 10 years.
The new broadcasting rules in Turkey require online content providers to get a new license and comply with RTUK’s guidelines to continue their broadcast in the country.
