Following the success in the USA, Sweden, and Japan, and with spin-offs in the pipeline for the UK, Argentina, and Germany, the UAE is set to contribute to the global phenomenon with its own rendition, 'Love Is Blind, Habibi.'
Netflix is gearing up to launch a UAE version of its popular series Love is Blind. Titled Love is Blind, Habibi, the reality show will transport the social experiment to the heart of the Middle East, showcasing single Arabs on a quest for true love.
In this social experiment and reality show, single men and women seek love and commit to engagement without meeting each other in person. The series captures the couples’ journey as they prepare for their weddings, navigate real-world interactions, and involve their families and friends, all to determine if their love truly conquers all.
Adding cultural flair to the UAE edition, Saudi actress and TV personality Elham Ali will take on the role of host, alongside her husband Khaled Saqr.
The original Love is Blind became an instant sensation upon its 2020 debut, hosted by celebrity couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey. With the upcoming sixth season set to return on February 14, Valentine’s Day, the show’s success has led to spin-offs in various countries, including Brazil, Japan, and Sweden.
Netflix said: “On their journey, they will get the chance to meet other like-minded people who share their values and desire to build a family, as well as a true partner who loves them for who they are and not what they look like.”
Participants in Love is Blind, Habibi will have the opportunity to deepen connections, fall in love, and even propose—all before laying eyes on each other. The streaming giant poses the question: “Will they successfully tie the knot, or will external factors and physical realities intervene?”
Love is Blind, Habibi joins the wave of international reality shows establishing their Middle Eastern presence, following Bravo’s Real Housewives of Dubai, which premiered in 2022. Additionally, the second season of Dubai Bling, another Netflix reality show, had its premiere in December.
