The update aims to make Netflix's global catalog more accessible at a time when nearly a third of all its viewership comes from non-English language shows.
Netflix has announced a major update aimed at enhancing its global viewing experience by expanding language options for TV users. With nearly a third of all viewing on Netflix dedicated to non-English content, subtitles and dubbing have become crucial in bringing stories to audiences worldwide.
The streaming giant already boasts a vast catalogue of TV shows and films in over 30 languages, featuring hits like Squid Game (Korea), Berlin (Spain), Lupin (France), Who Killed Sara? (Mexico), Troll (Norway) and All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany). The availability of diverse language options has played a key role in helping these stories reach a global audience beyond their countries of origin.
Starting today, Netflix TV users can now select from the full list of available languages for any title, a feature previously available on mobile devices and web browsers. This update comes in response to thousands of monthly requests from subscribers eager for more language flexibility.
Netflix has also recognised its role in language learning, with many users leveraging the platform to explore new languages. To support this, the company offers customisable subtitles and the Browse by Language feature on PC computers, further enhancing accessibility and multilingual engagement.
Whether it’s watching a Mexican drama with Korean dubbing and English subtitles or enjoying the latest Netflix hit with family members who speak different languages, the updated Netflix TV experience ensures seamless multilingual entertainment for viewers worldwide.
