After its recent foray into European markets, Netflix is now headed to the Middle East.
Keeping up a quick pace of expansion into new territories, the streaming company recently launched in Italy after its debut in Spain and Portugal. The Middle East may be its next stop in the next one year.
According to reports, Netflix’s Joris Evers wrote in an email to IGN ME that the SVOD giant plans to complete its global expansion by the end of 2016 and the Middle East is part of that. Netflix is hiring for the region.
Last month Netflix had announced that it would launch in four new Asian markets in early 2016 after debuting in Japan.
The California-based company has made international expansion a priority in recent months having launched in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year. The company has nearly doubled its subscriber base in the last two years.
At the beginning of this year, Netflix said it aims to be present in 200 countries by the end of 2016, as it looks to expand its still-growing base of subscribers; the service is currently available in more than 50 countries and boasts over 65m subscribers. It offers 100 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films.
