Masry won the Best Actor award for the film at the BAFTA Scotland Awards.
Netflix has released Limbo, starring British-Egyptian actor Amir El-Masry. Directed by British filmmaker Ben Sharrock, the movie features El-Masry as a Syrian asylum-seeker who finds himself living on a small Scottish island.
Limbo tells the story of Omar, who is a promising young musician. Separated from his Syrian family, he is stuck on a remote Scottish island awaiting the fate of his asylum request.
The film centres on four asylum seekers who are staying on a remote island in Scotland, and taking cultural awareness classes, while awaiting the processing of their refugee claims.
Masry won the Best Actor award for the film at the BAFTA Awards, Scotland, and the film was nominated for the Best British Film Award at the British BAFTA Awards.
