Youssef gained recognition with his Hulu series 'Ramy', which earned him a Golden Globe and two Emmy nominations in 2020 for both acting and directing.
Netflix has entered into a first-look deal with Egyptian-American actor Ramy Youssef, who will develop and create serialised projects through his production company, Cairo Cowboy. The partnership builds on their previous collaboration on the critically acclaimed series Mo, co-created by Youssef and Mo Amer. The second and final season of Mo is currently in post-production.
Youssef is best known for creating and starring in Ramy on Hulu, which was inspired by his own experiences as a first-generation Egyptian-American Muslim living in New Jersey.
Youssef’s next project with Netflix is the scripted comedy series Golf, in which he will serve as co-creator, executive producer, and actor.
Cairo Cowboy’s other credits include the award-winning series Ramy on Hulu and A24, now in its third season, and Netflix’s Mo, which will return in 2024. The company also produced Youssef’s comedy specials, Ramy Youssef: Feelings (2020) and Ramy Youssef: More Feelings (2024), for HBO.
Additionally, Cairo Cowboy is working on the adult animated series #1 Happy Family USA for Amazon Studios, featuring Youssef, Mandy Moore, Kieran Culkin and Chris Redd. The team is also preparing for the production of Netflix’s Golf.
