Once it moves to its new building in South Amsterdam, Netflix intends to double its workforce in Holland from 400 to 800 over the next couple of years.
Netflix is expanding its EMEA operations with a much bigger office in Amsterdam that will be ready in 2020. Netflix presently has 400 staff in Amsterdam but when it moves to its new facility in Zuid — with around 95,600 square feet of office space — the company plans to double its workforce to 800 in the coming years. The move to the new space is scheduled for May 1, 2020.
Netflix also recently took out major long-term leases in Toronto and the UK with the aim of expanding its local productions. It has upgraded its operations in London and has similar plans for Berlin and Mumbai. A Paris office is also in the offing.
Netflix’s aggressive expansion comes at a time when Disney+, HBO Max and Apple+ have all announced plans to enter the OTT market. Netflix presently has 158.3m paying subscribers, 60.6m of which are in the U.S. and another 97.7m overseas.
