Streaming media company NetroMedia announced at IBC that it will open a new client and technical service centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on September 19, 2011.
NetroMedias Middle Eastern clients include Dar Al Watan, as well as Saudi company, IT City, which recently sponsored the global live streaming of Ramadan prayers to mobile.
Speaking about his role, NetroMedias manager to the Middle East, Taher Altayeb, who will lead the new office commented: It is wonderful to be working out of the region, as we have many longstanding client relationships there. Im also particularly excited to show new customers how NetroMedia can help them stream to all devices at once.
NetroMedias mobile streaming solutions are particularly appealing to Middle Eastern organisations due to the disparity between mobile and internet adoption rates in the region, claims the company. In Egypt, which has one of the regions most developed telecommunications sectors, mobile adoption is approximately 68%, while the countrys internet adoption is a mere 13%, according to a 2010 report by the Canadian Trade Commission.
