The season features a total of 60 Arab comedians from across the Middle East.
Comedy Central has wrapped up film production of its second and third seasons of the local stand-up comedy show that is set to premiere exclusively on OSN on 14 January 2018. The production was recorded live at the urban-luxe Square at the JW Marriot Marquis Hotel in Dubai.
A total of 60 Arab comedians from across the Middle East, both professionals and first timers, presented their skits in Arabic and English, drawing from Middle Eastern traditions and culture. To provide combined international and regional flavour, the talent lineup was supported by established Emirati comedian Ali Al Sayed.
For the new seasons, the local team conducted a talent search across the MENA region at a series of local workshops and open mic nights, which took place at Kharabeesh in Amman, Jordan, at Retroactive in Beirut, Lebanon and at BarOro in Cairo, Egypt. A range of workshops hosted by Al Sayed and Saudi, Khaled Omar touched on all aspects of the trade, from creative writing and comedy styles to punch lines and timing.
Commenting on the show, Tracey Grant, Vice President Content and Channels, Middle East said: With the success of the first season on OSN, our team is very excited to continue producing localised content and broadening our talent pool to include comedians from across the region. During filming for the next two seasons, we have seen great enthusiasm from audiences. The stand-up comedy scene has witnessed an increased appetite for new and upcoming talent and the Comedy Central brand is dedicated to developing and showcasing the best in the region.
Throwing light on the strategy ahead, Emad Morcos, Chief Content Officer, OSN adds: We are excited to have Comedy Central Presents back on our channel. Comedy and especially stand-up comedy are extremely popular among viewers in the region and whats better than bringing regional home-grown content that is relevant to our times. We will continue to invest in premium content from the region, for the region along with an unbeatable viewing experience.
