The channel will air 24/7 episodes of the popular children’s show until June 13, exclusively available via OSN.
Nickelodeon and OSN have partnered to launch a dedicated SpongeBob SquarePants pop-up channel in three languages including English, Arabic and French. The channel is set to launch on May 29 and will air 24/7 episodes of the popular children’s show until June 13, exclusively available via OSN.
Special themes on the SpongeBob pop-up channel will include best friends, pets/animals, school, food, family and vacations, as well as the ‘Krusty Krab’ restaurant. These two-hour themed marathons will take place from Sunday to Wednesday.
There will also be special themes on characters, such as Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Gary, and the Planktons. Kids can also tune in to six-hour-long mega-marathons from Thursday to Saturday from 3:00 pm KSA/4:00 pm UAE.
Commenting on the launch of the pop-up, Tracey Grant, Vice President of Content and Channels for ViacomCBS, said: “Spongebob Squarepants is one of the most popular and successful children’s characters of all time. He has the never-give-up spirit of a gold medalist and the warmth of the sun’s ray. Within the context of global uncertainty with kids being exposed to many difficult conversations, what better antidote than a goofy, gilded special dedicated channel with our beloved yellow sponge, performing silly antics in a pineapple under the sea?”
Rachna Arora, Director of Affiliate Channels at OSN, remarked: “As people are spending more time at home, we wanted to offer younger members of the family with some much-needed fun, in addition to our exclusive kids’ channels. We are very excited to launch a unique pop-up channel for one of the most popular cartoon series on our platform – Spongebob Squarepants. Not only are we hosting more than 70 hours of Spongebob on the channel, but also, it will be available in three languages for the very first time. In the spirit of Eid, traditionally a time for families and friends to come together and a time for giving, we are delighted to offer the pop-up channel across all OSN packages so our customers can watch content they love.”
