Egyptian state-owned network Nile TV International has appointed a new head after the satellite channel mistakenly televised a report on the achievements of former president Mohammed Morsi, who was ousted on 3 July 2013.
Mervat Mohsen has been replaced by Samih Rajae, who takes over as the new General Manager of Nile TV.
Mohammed Morsi is currently on trial for inciting the murder of protesters, while the Muslim Brotherhood, the political party he led, was declared a “terrorist organisation” by the Egyptian authorities in December 2013.
Nile TV International, which launched in 1994, is broadcast as a terrestrial channel within Egypt, and via satellite across the Arab world, Europe and the US.
