The docu-film is the first Egyptian film to win the prestigious L'Œil d'or (Golden Eye Award) for Best Documentary Film at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
Felucca Films has released the official poster for Egyptian documentary The Brink of Dreams directed by Nada Riyadh and Ayman El Amir. The documentary will be screened at the seventh edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, that takes place from October 24 to November 1, 2024. The Brink of Dreams’ theatrical release in Egyptian cinemas is planned for November 6, 2024.
Featuring the Panorama Barsha Troupe, the film tells the story of a group of young women who form a theater troupe in their village, performing plays inspired by traditional upper Egyptian folklore, and dreaming of becoming stars despite numerous challenges.
Starring Magda Masoud, Haidi Sameh and Marina Samir, The Brink of Dreams has been acclaimed for its emotional depth and powerful storytelling. Earlier this year, it made history as the first Egyptian film to win the prestigious L’Œil d’or (Golden Eye Award) for Best Documentary Film at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Following its debut at Cannes, the film has participated in several prestigious film festivals, including the Chicago Film Festival, Biarritz Film Festival, and DokuFest.
