The Dubai International Film Festivals (DIFF) opened last night in a gala event that saw a number of celebrities walk down the red carpet.
The star-studded event welcomed Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett and DIFF Jury member Freida Pinto. In attendance was also the cast of the opening film, Life of Pi, Suraj Sharma, Adil Hussain and Shravanthi Sainath and a 1,800 strong audience.
Prior to the screening, veteran Egyptian actor Mahmoud Abdul Aziz and British director Michael Apted were presented with their DIFF Lifetime Achievement Award.
Today, being Broadcasters Day the Dubai Film Forum has organised a number of panel discussions from How to Export Local Content to International Market Spotlight: Co-production and Distribution in Europe, Japan and Russia.
There is even a panel discussion Broadcasting in the Arab World Now and in the Future which underlines how broadcasters such as OSN, MBC and Sky News Arabia keep ahead of the curve in the age of online and alternative platform viewing. The session finally culminates by Optimising Your Budget and Creating a Design Value with VFX.
The day ends with a gala red carpet IWC event.
