OSN has signed a deal with AMC/Sundance Channel Global to launch a regional version of the Sundance Channel for the Middle East and North Africa.
The channel of the international division of AMC Networks will be available exclusively on OSN from 15 January 2014 offering independent feature films, world cinema, documentaries, short films, series and original programmes.
The new channel will be available to OSN subscribers on the Platinum HD and Premier HD packages and will be available via OSN Play, the regions first online TV viewing platform. It will complement OSNs existing line-up of over 135 channels, including 15 film channels and 14 entertainment/series channels offering even more premium and exclusive content choices to OSN viewers. The move will also take OSNs total number of HD channels to 37.
David Butorac, CEO of OSN commented: OSN viewers will be the first to enjoy a wide range of fascinating series, reality shows and independent films never seen before in the region. Sundance channel is a perfect fit to our exclusive showcase of premium entertainment introducing viewers to bold stories with a fresh and unique point of view.
The programming, which will be available in the original language with Arabic subtitling, will include series such as Rectify and a film strand called “10 Days of Sundance” that will feature highlights from last year’s Sundance fest, including such titles as Computer Chess and The Meteor.
Bruce Tuchman, President of AMC/Sundance Channel Global, said: This exciting launch will significantly extend the reach of Sundance Channel into new territories throughout the Middle East and North Africa for the first time. Were looking forward to working closely with OSN, the Premier Pay TV platform in the region, to deliver original dramatic series alongside the best independent cinema.
