OSN is seeking to add French channels to its platform and grow its subscriber base in North Africa, according to Al Arabiya.
Currently most of OSN viewers live in the Gulf, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait accounting for much of the company’s reported 30% subscriber increase in 2012.
“We are looking to expand our French-language offering. We’re in discussion with channels that emanate from France in relation to distribution in the region,” David Butorac, chief executive, OSN, is quoted as telling Al Arabiya.
“From Morocco all the way through to Libya, there are countries that will be opportunities. We aim to expand our services in all those markets,” he added.
Although OSN provides viewers of its satellite, cable and IPTV subscription services with an array of English, Arabic and Filipino content, currently it lacks dedicated French channels for the Francophone audience.
