Panasonic is showcasing the LUMIX GH5 at Gulf Photo Plus exhibition this week.

Panasonic is showcasing the LUMIX GH5 at Gulf Photo Plus exhibition this week. The 13th edition of the Gulf Photo Plus exhibition, which began on February 10 will run for a week until February 17, 2017. The event sponsors including Panasonic, Sony, Fujifilm, Canon, Advanced Media and Nikon are exhibiting photography and videography equipment along with accessories alongside the photo exhibition at Alserkal Avenue, Dubai.
The LUMIX GH5 is a 4K 60p/50p, 4:2:2 10-bit video recording camera, suitable for action filming and still photography, said Mohammad Akbar Hussain, Manager AV Training / eagle Eye, Audio Video Department at Panasonic Marketing Middle East & Africa.
Hussain will be demonstrating the camera functions throughout the week-long event. The LUMIX GH5 comes equipped with the new 20.3-megapixel digital live MOS sensor and new Venus Engine for improved image quality.
Hussain said that the GH5 is a video camera which is also capable of still photography.
We have flown in three pre-production units of the camera from Japan which are being displayed here. The LUMIX GH5, offers 6K photo, which lets the user capture images at 30 fps by extracting the frame with the best timing out of a 6K burst file (in 4:3 or 3:2 aspect) to save as an approx.18-megapixel equivalent high resolution photo, he explained.
The camera comes with a double SD memory card slot compatible with high-speed, high capacity UHS-II for the first time in LUMIX digital camera series. It is capable of 10-bit internal recording and doesnt need an external 4K recorder as the GH5 records internally on SD cards. The users can segregate stills and videos as well.
The new release uses the full sensor for recording 4K, the previous models used the sensor partially and records at 180 fps, while the GH4 is capable of recording at 96 fps.
He added that although the camera is compatible with different brands of lenses with adapters, Panasonic lenses are recommended for capturing action shots for better stability.
The Lumix GH5 will be available for retail in April.
We have already received advance orders for the camera, which will be available in April. There is a lot of interest from the G-series users who want to upgrade to the newest edition,” said Hussain.
