The inauguration coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of television broadcasting in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Deputy King, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has inaugurated the main studio of the Bahrain TV News Centre and the dedicated building for private radio channels located within the Ministry of Information premises in Isa Town.
This inauguration marked a significant milestone, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the television broadcasting establishment in the Kingdom of Bahrain. During this occasion, the Deputy King underscored the pivotal role of the nation’s media in promoting Bahrain’s image and its achievements, which have been made possible through the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He noted that the rapid growth and development of the Kingdom have been driven by the efforts of Bahraini citizens committed to achieving success. He then toured the main studio of the Bahrain TV News Center and the private radio channels building, which included state-of-the-art television and radio equipment and technology.
The Deputy King stressed that the inauguration of these facilities represents a significant advancement for Bahrain’s audio-visual media sector and its international competitiveness, aligning with international best practices.
Prince Salman bin Hamad emphasised the importance of upholding founding principles and delivering professional and impartial media discourse that serves the Kingdom, its residents, and citizens.
He noted that the Kingdom continues to put its trust in Team Bahrain, which has produced success stories in every field, including the media. He outlined the importance of continuing to invest in Bahraini media talents to support creativity and excellence across media production and performance.
The Deputy King noted that technology is an essential tool to support the Kingdom’s development, including enhancing its media sector’s global relevance and competitiveness. Prince Salman bin Hamad highlighted that Bahraini citizens’ determination has enabled the Kingdom to attain regional and international accomplishments.
He commended the efforts, diligence, and dedication of employees at the Ministry of Information for responsibly spreading awareness and supporting the Kingdom’s wide-ranging development, as part of Team Bahrain.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad concluded by underscoring the media’s role in preserving the Kingdom’s identity and societal values. During the inauguration, he met with Ahmed Hussein and expressed gratitude for his contributions, along with those of others at the Ministry, to Bahrain’s radio and television sector.
While visiting the new private radio channels building, he interacted with radio broadcasters at the 96.5 radio station and conveyed a message to the Kingdom’s younger generation, encouraging adaptability, curiosity, and determination to transform dreams into reality for the betterment of the Kingdom and its future generations.
The Deputy King also recalled the contributions of individuals such as Ahmed Sulaiman, Bob Macredy, Adrian Ross, Ian Fisher, and others in the development of Radio Bahrain 96.5 FM in the region.
The Minister of Information, Ramzan bin Abdullah Al-Noaimi, warmly welcomed the Deputy King’s visit to the Ministry of Information, highlighting the advanced capabilities of the Kingdom in the media sector as a testament to the commitment of HM the King and the Deputy King to the Ministry’s efforts in serving the Kingdom and its citizens through the media.
The main studio of the Bahrain TV News Center, three times larger than the previous one, is equipped with cutting-edge technology to cover local, regional, and international events creatively and efficiently. The private broadcasting studios’ building incorporates electrical power systems to ensure a sustainable power supply for all technical devices and systems. This project coincides with the launch of Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB+), considered the third and most modern generation of broadcasting systems. The project was implemented in collaboration with radio technology companies to provide the best equipment and technologies for private radio stations.
