The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) team heads to the 70th Venice Film Festival this week to further promote and support Arab film and talent to the world. The prestigious Venice Film Festival runs from the August 28 through to September 7 and is a good opportunity for Arab filmmakers to showcase their work on an international stage.
Following a successful first year, DIFF will work in association with the Venice Biennale on the Biennale College Cinema in Venice to strengthen relations to ensure there are opportunities for an exciting initiative to support teams of directors and producers to make their first or second micro-budget audio-visual work.
The collaboration with the Venice Film Market continues this year and will see ten films that screened at the ninth edition of DIFF last year to significant acclaim presented at the Venice Film Market through the Digital Video Library which allows the filmmakers to have their films made available to, distributors, buyers, sellers, agents and film promotion agencies from around the world. The films that will be showcased are Blind Intersections directed by Lara Saba; It’s About To Rain directed by Haider Rashid; Infiltrators directed by Khaled Jarrar; The Turtle’s Rage directed by Pary El-Qalqili, Line of Sight directed by Aseel Mansour; Asfouri directed by Fouad Alaywan; Chaos, Disorder directed by Nadine Khan; Defining Love: A Failed Attempt directed by: Hakim Belabbes; Round Trip directed by Meyar Al Roumi and Detroit Unleaded directed by Rola Nashef. Films from The Venice Film Festival will also be available for viewing through the Dubai Film Markets Cinetech, the fully-digitised library of films this year.
