The Dubai leg of the Professional Seminar Series, conducted in collaborative partnership by Axon, Dolby, Ericsson, Soundfield and Tektronix, concluded on June 19. The speakers addressed issues and challenges faced in broadcast and content distribution, and discussed the evolution of television broadcasting.

Antoni Caceres from Tektronix discussed the launch of IPTV services and the challenges facing quality of experience. Ericssons Luke Williams spoke about 4K TV with special reference to sport. Marc Derks of Axon shed light on the latest AVB technology and the end of SDI while Dolbys Jacob Smith spoke about loudness.
The interactive session saw a convergence of more than 75 professionals representing UAEs leading broadcasters, system integrators and telcos including Etisalat, du, MBC, BFE, Tek Signals, Dubai TV, twofour54 and Media Group International.
Mark Barkey, Regional Sales Manager of Axon and a key figure in PSS said: This is the third edition of the PSS, the first one was held in 2011. These seminars provide a platform for professionals to interact with like-minded people and to hear from the experts. The five companies represented here complement each other perfectly and the topics discussed give an overview of the entire broadcast ecosystem.
The event is growing every year. Next year, we hope to collaborate with more manufacturers to make it even more comprehensive.
A similar talk was held in Doha on June 17 and another session is scheduled for Istanbul in a few weeks.
