Qatar TV has opted for an automation solution from Pebble Beach Systems for its new facilities in Doha.
The deal was announced at the first day of the CABSAT trade show in Dubai in the presence of Samer Younes, consultant engineer, TV Support & Development Committee for Qatar TV, Issa Abdullah Al-Hitmi, media consultant and head of the project engineering team for Qatar TV and Samir Asbaih, regional manager for Pebble Beach Systems.
Pebble Beach Systems is a leading provider of automation, channel-in-a-box and media management solutions to broadcasters worldwide.
Qatar TVs relaunch, which is scheduled to take place over the next few months, will include a completely new schedule and add a second channel, increasing capacity for news content, special programming and coverage of live events. The broadcaster selected a Neptune automation system to control playout for both channels, and the system will control a workflow which automatically transfers files from EVS storage to the EVS playout servers, via a media management interface with Blue Order.
Samer Younes, consultant engineer, TV Support & Development Committee for Qatar TV, said: Pebble Beach Systems ability to integrate with EVS, together with their excellent reputation in the region, made them the strongest contender when we were looking at automation systems. Qatar TV has ambitious plans and we are confident that the Neptune automation system will deliver the performance that this prestigious broadcaster needs.
Pebble Beach Systems now controls over 180 channels in the Middle East region. With comprehensive ingest, playout and media management capabilities, the automation systems are able to manage complex tapeless workflows, and offer straightforward expansion capability as broadcasters grow and programming requirements change.
Since the companys inception the products have been developed to react to the needs of the Middle East market, for instance allowing dynamic graphics control with Arabic text, providing fast turnaround compliance workflows and more recently introducing features that help broadcasters easily manage prayer breaks in their schedules.
