The film was among the winners of the Saudi Film Commission’s Daw Film Competition to foster new Saudi filmmaking talent.
Saudi Film Commission has selected Mohamed Al Salman’s Raven Song as its contender for Best International Feature at the 2023 Academy Awards.
The film was chosen by the Saudi Oscars committee, headed by Abdullah Al-Ayyaf, CEO of the Film Commission, which also includes directors Haifaa Al-Mansour, the head of the Saudi Cinema Association, Hana Al-Omair, and director Shahd Amin, CEO of the Red Sea International Film Festival, as well as director and actress Ahed Kamel, producer Mohamed Al-Turki, and director of the Saudi Film Festival and poet Ahmed Al-Mulla.
Raven Song stars Asem Alawad, Ibrahim Khairallah and Kateryna Tkachenko and is produced by Ahmed Mousa and Telfaz 11.

Shot in Riyadh, the film follows a young man named Nasar who has a rocky rapport with his father. While working at a hotel, he becomes infatuated with a beautiful, mysterious young woman.
The winner will be announced at the 95th ceremony, which will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 12, 2023.
