Following his departure, Sabbagh hopes to return as a director and producer to work on his third feature film.
The Red Sea Film Festival Foundation has announced that Festival Director Mahmoud Sabbagh has stepped down from his role.
Sabbagh intends to focus at present on directing and producing his third feature film.
In a statement on the official website, the festival organiser said: “The Foundation would like to thank the outgoing Festival Director for his work and efforts which included launching the Foundation and putting together the pillars of the inaugural Red Sea Film Festival.”
Due to take place in March, the first edition was postponed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the precautionary measures put in place.
“The Red Sea Film Festival will continue its commitment to support the burgeoning Saudi film industry as well as local and regional filmmakers,” the organisers added.
