The foundation strives to foster cultural understanding and expand perspectives by promoting the exploration of diverse storytelling narratives through film and cinema.
The Red Sea Film Foundation, under the leadership of Jomana R. Alrashid, has announced the addition of new members to its Board of Trustees. Joining the board are Haifaa Al-Mansour, Firas Al-Turki, and Salman Al-Sudairi. They will join the existing board members Abdullah Al-Ayaf Al-Qahtani and Hadeel Saleh Kamel, who have played pivotal roles in the Foundation’s success thus far.
Jomana R. Alrashid has been at the helm of the Board of Trustees since 2022, steering the Foundation’s strategic direction and overall growth. Her leadership has made a significant impact on the cinematic and media landscape. Notably, Haifaa Al-Mansour, recognised internationally as one of Saudi Arabia’s first female directors, brings her work, including the acclaimed film Wadjda, which made history as the first film shot within Saudi Arabia and the kingdom’s initial selection for the Oscars.
Firas Al-Turki, currently serving as Deputy Minister for Shared Services at the Ministry of Culture, brings a wealth of experience from his senior roles at the Saudi Commercial Bank. Salman Al-Sudairi, as Managing Partner at Latham & Watkins in Riyadh, provides expertise across various sectors, further enriching the board’s capabilities.
Abdullah Al-Ayaf Al-Qahtani, appointed CEO of the Saudi Film Commission in 2020, adds his filmmaking prowess and directorial experience to the board. Meanwhile, Hadeel bint Saleh Kamel, with her extensive leadership and investment acumen, enhances the board’s strategic vision.
Speaking about the new members, Jomana R. Alrashid, Chairwoman of Red Sea Film Foundation, said: “Our objective is to be a catalyst for film and culture and cement our reputation as a leading global platform to empower filmmakers and talents. I have no doubt that the new Board of Trustees, with their wealth of knowledge, history of achievements and understanding of the cultural and cinematic landscape will help us achieve our objectives and continue to make our mark on the world stage.”
This strategic move underscores the Red Sea Film Foundation’s ongoing commitment as a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing the Saudi film industry. The Foundation continues its efforts in production, distribution, education, and training, further solidifying Saudi Arabia’s cultural and film sectors on both local and regional fronts.
