Films participating in the event will vie for the Yusr Awards.
The Red Sea International Film Festival (RedSeaIFF) is open for submissions for its fourth edition, scheduled from December 5 to 14, 2024, in the historic district of Al Balad, Jeddah. Filmmakers, producers, and distributors from Saudi Arabia, Africa, Asia and the Arab world are invited to submit their films by August 22.
The festival seeks entries for its Competition strands, including the Red Sea: Competition and the Red Sea: Shorts Competition sections. It also features the New Saudi/New Cinema section, which is dedicated to showcasing emerging Saudi filmmakers and artists, with both feature films and shorts.
Contenders in the competition will vie for the esteemed Yusr Awards, including the Red Sea Golden Yusr Award for Best Film in Competition, which includes a cash prize of $100,000. Notably, the 2023 Golden Yusr was bestowed upon Zarrar Kahn’s debut feature, In Flames.
Mohammed Al Turki, CEO of Red Sea Film Foundation, said: “We are incredibly proud to offer a diverse range of sections and opportunities for both established and emerging filmmakers to showcase their work, and it is important to the Foundation that this remains accessible for all – so we are pleased to offer an early bird period with no fee for submitting work for consideration. We are very much looking forward to diving into the entries and coming together in December to celebrate the inspiring and vibrant projects from Saudi Arabia, Africa, Asia and the Arab World at our highly anticipated fourth edition.”
As of July 6, submissions have a regular fee: SAR 100 ($26.66) for shorts and SAR 200 ($53.33) for features, VAT inclusive.
