Composers are invited to submit applications by October 2, 2024.
Red Sea Labs, a flagship programme under the Red Sea Film Foundation, has announced the launch of the second edition of its “Music & Sound” programme. This intensive eight-day workshop is designed to sharpen the skills of composers and sound design professionals through hands-on training and expert mentorship. Led by top industry experts, the programme invites both aspiring and established talents in film scoring from the Arab world, Asia and Africa to apply.
Applications are now open and will be accepted until October 2, 2024.
The programme, scheduled to take place from October 19 to October 26, 2024, will feature a series of practical workshops alongside enriching lectures delivered by experts and specialists in film scoring and sound design for cinema. This initiative is part of the Red Sea Film Foundation’s ongoing efforts to enable talents in the field across its diverse sectors, providing comprehensive support from development to final production and distribution.
The Red Sea Labs aims to bridge the talent gap by offering a programme that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, where composers can immediately apply what they’ve learned and receive feedback from on-site tutors. The programme pairs selected composers with a film directing expert, fostering direct collaboration to enhance knowledge of film scoring. This collaborative approach refines the composers’ technical skills—such as understanding musical styles, genres and synchronisation techniques—and hones their storytelling instincts, allowing them to incorporate their unique musical styles into scores that enhance a film’s emotional impact and narrative.
