Emaar Entertainment’s Reel Cinemas has announced the launch of its drive-in cinema at The Dubai Mall, starting today. Viewers will be able to watch films on the big screen while parked in their cars and hear the audio by tuning in to a set FM frequency.
The new experience comes with strict hygiene and safety measures. Upon arrival, Reel Cinemas staff will assist the viewers in their assigned spot in an entirely contactless manner.
Parking spaces will be arranged upon arrival based on the car size for an optimum viewing experience for all. A maximum of two people is allowed inside each vehicle.
Tickets can be purchased exclusively on the Reel Cinemas website or through the app at AED 170 per car that would include an F&B combo for two people. Food from outside the venue is not allowed.
Children younger than 12 and seniors over 60 are not allowed for the time being, in alignment with the government restrictions. Movie age ratings are also applied, and staff might ask for the viewers’ Emirates ID to verify age in some cases.
Reel Cinemas plans to screen a number of films, including Bombshell, Jumanji Next Level, A Quiet Place, Mission Impossible Fallout, Knives Out, Aqua Man, The Grudge, Charlie’s Angels and Shazam!.
Earlier in May, Vox launched its own version of the Drive-in cinema experience at Mall of the Emirates.
