The two companies will work together on scripted, format and documentary projects with strong potential for both the global market and Reshet13.
Israeli broadcaster Reshet13 and Tel Aviv-based studio Sipur have signed a multi-year co-financing and co-production partnership. This strategic collaboration paves the way for the joint development of scripted series, formats, and documentary projects for both local and international audiences.
This deal follows Sipur’s (formerly known as Tadmor Entertainment) extension of its first-look co-development, co-production, and co-financing agreement with MGM in May 2022. Additionally, Sipur has entered into collaboration with The North Road Company, resulting in the creation of the scripted series, Bad Boy. Other productions from the company include the reality series Hungry For Love, Munich ’72 and The Devil’s Confession: The Lost Eichmann Tapes.
Sipur, under the leadership of CEO Emilio Schenker, said that this partnership is being formed amid a backdrop of decreasing investments from both Israeli and international platforms in local content. With substantial financial backing from institutional investors, including Israel’s largest bank, Poalim Equity, as well as Clal Insurance Enterprises and IBI Investment House, Sipur aims to bridge the ever-expanding financial gap for Israeli and international projects.
Commenting on the deal, Emilio Schenker said: “This deal provides us with a long-term launchpad for new international co-productions. We couldn’t be more pleased than to be in business with the talented teams at Reshet13 on this strategy, which we have been successfully implementing both inside and outside of Israel.”
Meir Kotler, Deputy CEO at Reshet13, added: “Investing in original local content is of the upmost importance and we at Reshet13 view this as a growth driver. Collaborating with a partner such as Sipur will increase the scope of our investment in local talent and creativity, thus not only benefiting Reshet13 but the local production industry as a whole.”
